Mike Flamson

Newport Lightning Director of Coaching is a mentor, motivator and passionate teacher of the game.  He played varsity basketball at Corona del Mar High School where he later returned to serve on the coaching staff and is currently the freshman coach and a varsity assistant coach.  A longtime community leader active in local youth sports, Mike is currently the head coach of our Girls Varsity High School team and Boys 8th grade / 14U & 7th / 13u teams.

Scott Stucki

Newport Lightning Director of Operations has been a student and fan of the game since he was a small child.  He has been very active with local youth sports in California & Nevada and has coached basketball for 16+ years. Coach Stucki attended UNLV and majored in Hotel Management.  He is committed to improving each player he coaches with intense, positive and energetic basketball instruction.  Coach Scott has coached at all levels of basketball and is currently a varsity assistant for Newport Harbor High School.  Scott is currently the head coach of our Boys 6th grade 12u team / Boys 5th Grade / 11u team and Boys 10u / 4th grade team.

Nicklaus Flamson

Nicklaus Flamson is in his third season as a head coach for the Lightning.  Nick came from J Serra High School where he was a two year varsity starter for the Lions and was voted 1st team all-league in the top league in Orange County, the Trinity League. Nick is currently the head coach of our Boys 7th Grade / 13u Black Elite team and coaches many other NLBC teams.

Jason Simco

Jason Simco is entering his first year as a head coach for the Lightning. Coach Simco is currently the assistant Boys Varsity coach at Corona Del Mar High School where he has been since 2006. He helped guide them to a CIF championship in 2007. Prior to his stint at CDM, he was the head varsity coach at his alma mater Estancia at the age of 22 where he compiled a 39-18 record in two seasons. In his first year at the helm, they went 23-6 while winning the Golden West League title and reaching the CIF semi-finals. In 2010 he guided the CDM junior varsity team to a 22-1 record while winning the Pacific Coast League title. He graduated from Estancia High School in 2000, where he was a former two time most valuable player and captain of the basketball team. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Concordia University in Irvine. He his currently continuing his education at National University, where he’s obtaining a Masters degree in Special Education. Jason currently teaches a 6-8 Autism class at Hollydale School in Paramount.

Jeff Beeler

Jeff Beeler is in his third season as a head coach for the Lightning.  Coach Beeler is currently the Boys Varsity Coach at Sage Hill High School where he has been since 2007. Prior to moving to Sage Hill, he was on the varsity coaching staff and was junior varsity coach at Northwood High (Irvine) and Liberty Christian (Huntington Beach). Jeff began his coaching career at Wilson (Long Beach) as the sophomore team coach.
Coach Beeler prepped at Long Beach Wilson and went on to play basketball at Orange Coast College and California State Dominguez Hills where he graduated with a degree in Kinesiology. Jeff is currently working on his Masters Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine.

David Kleckner

David Kleckner, Basketball Advisor – An Aurora, IL native, Coach Kleckner played basketball at Arizona State University (1983-86).  He then coached at ASU, Kings River CC (Reedley, CA) and San Diego State University.  He began his high school coaching career at Montclair and is currently the Varsity Head Coach at Etiwanda High School in his 17th season.  His teams have compiled an overall record of 442-147, including 15 league championships, 5 CIF-Final appearances, 1 CIF Championship and 7 State Tournament appearances.  Known for his defensive prowess, he stresses fundamentals and teamwork.  He has produced several Division 1 players over his career, and prides himself on preparing players for the next level.
